I remember when I first started out with my blog, I was constantly trying to figure out what I could do to improve my ranking. And while there are a lot of factors that go into SEO one of the most important things is on-page optimization.

On-page optimization essentially means making sure your website or blog is optimized for both users and search engines. This includes everything from the content itself down to the technical aspects of your site.

In today’s post, we’re going to focus specifically on three important tips on how to increase SEO.

How to Increase SEO

SEO isn’t going anywhere.

Your website should definitely focus on this in the future.

If you’re just starting to focus on SEO, it’s not too late to implement the right strategies. You may be a little bit behind, but that doesn’t mean you can’t catch up. Just focus on creating quality content and making sure your site is accessible and user-friendly.

Don’t worry, it’s easier than you think.

Start by testing a few, and then move on to the others.

Keep a close eye on your call results.

Check your traffic, and your search rank, to validate your search engine optimization (SEO) efforts.

You’re on your way to better search engine results on Google in no time!

You could potentially even claim that number one spot.

What is SEO?

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the practice of improving a site’s ranking in search engine results.

SEO efforts result in more website visitors, which leads to increased conversions and revenue.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is a marketing strategy that increases visibility in search engines.

But, this simplifies the sales process.

There are a lot of ways to optimize your site’s page rankings. Google and other search engines look at elements such as titles, keyword usage, alt text, and internal linking.

Search engine rankings are determined by several factors, including things like website structure, user behavior, and external influences. By considering all of these factors, you can increase your chances of a higher search engine rank.

With all of these considerations in mind, search engine optimization is primarily concerned with driving both visibility and ranking.

How Does SEO Work?

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the practice of improving the visibility of a web page in search engines. This is done by making changes to the web page content and HTML coding to increase its relevance to specific search terms.

While you can see the results of your search engine optimization (SEO) campaign take shape on the SERPs once your webpages have been indexed, it can take several months before you see the full effects of your optimization.

SERP Rankings

This is how Google determines where to rank a web page in the search results. The ranking is determined by the position of the page, with 0 being first and 10 being last. A webpage can only have one position in the SERP at once.

As search engines update their algorithms, the ranking of web pages can change.

Search Engine Visibility

This refers to how often your domain appears in search results. A low ranking means that your site won’t appear in many searches, while a high ranking means it will appear in more.

Both search visibility (or ranking) and your domain’s DA (or trust) are the primary factors for increasing traffic.

Why is SEO Important?

Using search engine optimization (SEO), you can ensure that your brand is seen by consumers throughout their entire buying process. You can also better understand your buyers’ behaviors so that you can create better marketing tactics.

Because, as Google has acknowledged, consumer behavior has permanently changed.

As of 2021, 92% of online search happens on Google.

Buyers like to do most of the work themselves.

According to Statista, 60% of consumers conduct research on brands before they make purchases. This task has become more difficult in recent years.

67% of B2B customers begin their purchasing process by conducting broad searches online.

But how do they find you?

In the early stages of their buying process, people search for information online about their problems. They also ask about possible solutions.

After customers exhaust all other sources of information, they will often turn to online reviews and social media buzz before contacting a company. This allows you to show up in their searches and be recognized as a potential solution to their problem.

The only way for customers to find you is by appearing in their search engine results.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is constantly changing, so it’s important to keep up with the latest changes and trends.

How to Improve SEO of Your Existing Content

If you have great content, your SEO will likely improve as a result. When looking to improve your SEO strategy, start by taking a look at the quality of your existing content. Great content is essential for successful SEO. If you have strong content, you’re likely to see improvements in your SEO as well.

Even if you intend to hire an SEO company, it’s useful to know the basics of SEO yourself.

While all of these tips apply to new blog posts, they can also be used to optimize existing posts.

Don’t stop creating new content for your blog. An extensive blog content strategy should be part of every company’s long-term marketing strategy.

One of the best ways to improve your overall search engine optimization is to update your existing website content.

The faster any new posts you publish will climb the ranks, the better your SEO will be. The stronger your SEO, the more traffic you’ll get. The more traffic you get, the more conversions you’ll make.

A simple Google search for “ways to improve search engine optimization” returns an overwhelming number of results.

There are hundreds of articles, blog posts, and videos on best practices for making sales calls and even more technical terms.

A lot of it will seem simple, but a lot will not.

We’re giving you three ways to instantly boost your search engine ranking with your current website content.

Tip #1: The 7-50 Strategy

If you want to increase your SEO, focus on the pages that are ranking in positions 7-50 for keywords. These are the pages with the most potential for optimization opportunities. By improving these pages, you can improve your overall ranking and visibility.

Google sees these as quality pages, but not as good as your competitor’s.

By tweaking these few pages, your search engine optimization will continue to climb — for ranking and your entire site.

These are the web pages you should optimize for. You don’t need to spend time or money optimizing the pages of your site for keywords that are currently in the top ten results. Focus on the web pages that appear lower in the search results. These are the web pages that will benefit from SEO the most.

Step 1: Export All Keyword Rankings in Positions 1-50

Export all of your website’s keywords in ranks 1-50 using SEMRush. This will show you where your site is ranking organically and where you can make improvements to your search engine optimization.

Your contact information will copy into a spreadsheet, but if you’re using different software, you can paste it there instead.

Step 2: Filter URLs Ranking in Positions 1-6

If you have pages that rank in 1-50, you have high-performing content that is ranking for more than one keyword.

If you have pages ranking in the top 6 positions for multiple keywords, it’s best to leave them and focus your attention on pages ranking lower. By doing this, you can identify areas where you can make improvements and see a greater ROI for your efforts.

But, using the data you collected, you cannot start by looking at pages that are ranked 7th or lower.

Why?

It’s likely that some pages in those positions are also ranking in higher spots. These shouldn’t be changed.

Focusing on optimizing your top-performing web pages for keyword rankings in spots 7 and below is unnecessary.

To filter out URLs that rank in the top ten, there is a simple process that any marketer can implement — no fancy software or special tools needed: Create a header. Copy the top-ranking page. Paste it into the search field in the header. Uncheck the box next to it. Repeat for every other high-ranking page.

If your site is ranking for lots of different keywords, this can take a lot of time.

But, don’t fret, because high-performing pages are very likely to still rank for more than one keyword. As you filter through each landing page, you’ll likely see that many URLs will disappear with each you eliminate and that this process doesn’t take too long.

After you’ve completed this audit, you’ll only be left with pages that rank in 7 and up. These are your highest-priority SEO issues.

Step 3: Create a Pivot Table

Google sheets or excel can be used to generate a pivot table. This allows users to examine their data in a multitude of different ways.

Creating a pivot table that lists all the URLs ranked for a given keyword will help you see which pages are performing best for that query.

Step 4: Review Keywords Ranking in Positions 7-50

Now that you understand how to identify your top-performing pages and which pages are only getting traffic from lower search ranks, you can dive into optimizing these low-ranking pages.

A page can be very close to being ranked for a high-value key term, but it may not actually contain the keywords in the copy.

This indicates that your content is valuable and Google has ranked it accordingly. If you were to include the keyword in your content, it could potentially rank even higher.

If the page actually used the keyword, it would rank much higher.

If a web page is showing up in the 7th-20th position, you can increase that web page’s search engine rankings by adding more keyword phrases.

One way to improve your content marketing is by using tools like SEMRush or ÜberSuggest to find new, relevant keyword phrases that your target audience is searching for. This can help your content rank higher on search engines, and bring in more organic traffic.

Do you have more than one page about the same thing?

This can confuse search engines if you repeat the same information across multiple pages.

Since Google is having trouble determining which pages are more important, it’s affecting how these pages rank.

When the same keyword is targeted by more than one page, this is known as “keyword cannibalism”.

If these pages have consecutive positions, it could be a sign that your SEO efforts aren’t as effective as you’d like.

Tip #2: Competitor Keyword Gap Analysis

Competitor keyword gap analysis is the act of analyzing what your competitors are ranking for and comparing it to your own.

A keyword research process where you identify which of your top competitors are outranking you for important search terms. You can do this by researching your rankings in SEO tools like SEMRush. By finding which terms you are missing, you can develop a strategy to out-rank your competitors.

Keyword Gap Analysis for Microneedling

The best way to improve your search engine optimization is to identify which of your competition’s page 1 rankings you are missing out on. This is referred to as your “keyword gaps”.

One of the best ways to quickly improve your SEO performance is to target keywords with low competition. Look for keywords with a difficulty below 65% for the best results.

In SEMRush, you can filter your keyword list to show only the ones with a certain level of difficulty.

Micro-needling is an effective way to improve your search engine rankings. By optimizing your content for low competition and long-tail keyword phrases, you can increase your organic traffic.

If you’re looking to boost your organic traffic with easy-to-rank-for, low competition, and high volume search terms, the search term ‘how long does micro-needling last’ might be right up your alley. With 260 monthly searches and a 58.6% difficulty score, this is an opportunity that shouldn’t be missed.

If either of the med spas has existing content on a micro-needling treatment that isn’t working, it would make sense to optimize this content around that key term to increase their rankings and drive more traffic to their website.

Keyword Gap Analysis to Improve SEO Ranking

The final area of focus when conducting keyword research is ‘low’ or ‘poor’ performing terms.

Keywords that you and your competition are both targeting, but your competition is beating you.

It is especially useful to take note of your weaker keyword rankings, where you may be in 6th-10th place and your top competitors are in the top 3.

Before you make any changes to a page, you should always check the 7-50 analysis to ensure that you’re improving its ranking.

If the web page is ranking well for a given term, you don’t want to risk that by targeting another phrase.

Tip #3: Analyze Non-Content On-Page SEO Factors

There are several on-page factors that you should optimize to improve your page’s ranking. These include:

  • URL Structure: Should be 50-60 characters, includes keywords, clearly defines the content, no unnecessary numbers or symbols
  • Title Tag: Should be 60 characters or less, written in a question format if applicable, directly related to the content
  • Meta Description: No longer than 150 characters, enticing, directly related to the content, includes keywords
  • Header Tags: Only one H1 tag supporting H2 and H3 tags, including related keywords

Analyze the factors for existing content with Search Console or with an SEO tool like SEO Minion.

Conclusion

There you have it! These are just a few of the many factors that can affect how to increase SEO ranking. By taking the time to analyze and optimize these elements, you can give yourself a major boost in search engine rankings. So what are you waiting for? Get started today!
