The Impact of The Piesync Acquisition

PieSync is a cloud-based contact data synchronization service that enables users to sync their contact lists and data across multiple devices and platforms. The company was founded in 2010 by Pieter-Bas Kruythoff and Willem van den Berg and is headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

In 2014, Piesync received $1.2 million in funding from a number of angel investors, and in 2015, they secured $3 million from venture capital firm NorthZone.

HubSpot Acquires PieSync

In 2019, HubSpot announced its PieSync acquisition. PieSync is the fastest-growing real-time customer data synchronization platform. This acquisition allows HubSpot to provide its customers with even more powerful tools for managing their customer data.

These days, companies are always trying to focus on customer experience. Unfortunately, this can become difficult when customer data is spread across so many platforms. In fact, according to research from Blissfully, the average user utilizes 8 separate apps per day.

Founded in 2014, the Belgium-based company received an investment from IMEC iStart and entrepreneur and angel investor, Dirk Vermeulen.

Two years after its first round, the startup raised a second round of funding, led by angel investors, AAAF, PMV, and Belgian entrepreneur, Luc Burgleman.

Then in 2018, the company received another round of funding from Fortino Capital.

The publicly-traded company, Hubspot, provides a cloud-based platform that helps businesses manage their marketing, sales, and customer service efforts. Marketers can launch advertising campaigns, publish content to their company’s social media accounts, and analyze the traffic to their website, among many other things.

A lot of the capabilities of Hubspot require you to connect them to external applications such as a helpdesk system or a site analytic tool. This is where PieSync comes in. It automatically syncs data between an external platform and your HubSpot account, saving you from having to manually enter it.

The service provides an interface in which users can select which systems they want to connect to and which data they wish to sync. For example, an e-commerce company might choose to bring the data from its e-commerce platform, such as Magento, into its CRM, such as Hubspot. Or it could choose to import the contacts from its CRM system into its email marketing software, such as MailChimp.

Following its acquisition, the standalone version of PieSync will continue to exist. The deal will help further the goal of creating a platform that can connect all front-office applications to Hubspot.
